Don’t just aim to prevent extinction. Be weaponized.
Since the arrival of ChatGPT, my feed is split into two camps:
- Software development will be disrupted with generative AI.
- AI can’t write perfect code, so our jobs are safe.
Both claims are extremist. At the same time, it wouldn’t be wrong to predict that a lot of coders will be swimming in a generative AI-dominated lake.

With the arrival of generative AI, the entire programmer efficiency science needs to be rewritten.
The arrival of a disruptive generative technology mostly does one thing: The competency gap between an average and an exceptional professional reduces by an order of magnitude.
Unless the exceptional one keeps an eye on the future and upgrades oneself, he will be decimated, if not replaced.
